This project goes beyond manufacturing products; it is a “triple-win” social innovation story:
E (Environmental): Transforming decommissioned fire hoses—which would otherwise be disposed of in landfills and are extremely difficult to decompose naturally due to their durable polyester fiber and rubber composition—into trendy and practical lifestyle goods, successfully achieving a Circular Economy and carbon reduction.
S (Social): Involving intellectually disabled and SEN (Special Educational Needs) youth in parts of the manufacturing process, boosting their self-confidence and promoting Social Inclusion.
G (Governance): Partnering with the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (a government department) ensures legitimate material sourcing, transparent processes, and clear accountability for revenue allocation (e.g., supporting social enterprise development), exemplifying strong public credibility and Corporate Governance.
